Women Economic Empowerment Africa (WEEA) co-led a session at the 2025 ECOSOC Youth Forum, with its Executive Director, Mahlet Zeleke Redi, moderating the SDG 17 dialogue, “Partnerships and Financing for Youth – Unlocking the Potential of the Green Economy.” Mahlet participated in her role as a Global Focal Point for the Global Youth Caucus on Decent Work and Sustainable Economies.
The session explored how partnerships and financing can help young people gain the education, skills and opportunities needed to participate in a greener economy. The International Labour Organization’s event announcement connects youth employment, training and access to green jobs with wider financing decisions.
The ILO organized the session with the Major Group for Children and Youth and other United Nations partners. The discussion brought youth perspectives into questions about economic change and the partnerships that support it.
For WEEA, this engagement connects women’s economic empowerment with wider conversations about decent work, opportunity and sustainable development. It brings the organization’s perspective into an international dialogue about the resources and cooperation young people need to shape their futures.
